Makerspace Training

Monthly orientation sessions are available to support ECE undergrad and graduate students.
The Makerspace safety training is composed of an in-person orientation session followed by an online module and quiz.

Instructions for Completing the Makerspace Safety Training

  1. Enroll in the Makerspace Course on Canvas
    Enroll by clicking here.
  2. Book your in-person Makerspace Orientation
    Once enrolled, access the online Canvas module, and select an upcoming on-site orientation session through the “book your on-site orientation” module.
  3. Complete the rest of the online modules and Quiz
    Ensure that each section of the course is completed in the required order to unlock subsequent sections.
  4. Email your Completion certificate to makerspace@ece.ubc.ca
    After completing the online module, Please email your certificate to makerspace@ece.ubc.ca. This is a one-time requirement to confirm your eligibility to use the Makerspace facilities.

Other Training

Additionally, we offer training and access to specialized equipment for ECE research groups, including the Tinkerine 3D printers and Epilog Laser Cutter. Please see the “Digital Manufacturing” or “Edge experience” tab for more information.

Undergraduate students are encouraged to submit a service request to obtain parts made with the laser cutter and water jet machine.
