ECE Laboratory Rules

Safety in the laboratory and in the shop is taken VERY SERIOUSLY here at ECE. The department has put in place a simple minimum set of rules that students must follow when using the laboratories or the shops. These rules are non-negotiable and transgressions are subject to warnings and penalties. Rules and penalties vary depending on the room, to find out which rules apply to each work space please visit the sections below.

1. Do not allow unauthorized access to restricted spaces (e.g., do not prop open doors; do not allow others who may not have privileges to enter).
2. Do not have food or drinks in the lab (food and/or drink is allowed if stored in backpack and not consumed while in the lab at any time).
3. This lab was designed so that Personal Protection Equipment is not needed (however, other labs DO REQUIRE PPE)
4. Do not abuse or damage equipment. Only use equipment for which you are authorized and trained, and only for the equipment’s specified purpose.
5. Clean up workspace before leaving.
6. Do not engage in horseplay and/or sabotage
