Facility deficiencies | facilities@ece.ubc.ca |
Capstone Equipment Pool | The Capstone Equipment pool is a collection of items (e.g. A/V equipment, instrumentation, etc.) that are available for you to loan for your capstone project. For more information on what is available and to loan an item click here |
PCB Design and Assembly | Design: For PCB design, Altium is generally used at ECE. For information on access to Altium designer click here. Altium offers tutorials on how to create your own PCB. Click here to visit Altium education. If you need support with the design of your PCB, please consult your TA. Assembly: PCB Assembly includes taping out a PCB and if necessary assembly services. For fabrication instructions click here. Note, you will need to login using your ECE credentials to see this page. If you choose to assemble your own PCB, you may book the Electronics Assembly. See the row below for more information. |
Electronics Assembly | Electronics Assembly is a bookable and supervised space with dedicated workstations to help with PCB board assembly, PCB reworking, and circuit testing with advanced instrumentation. For more information and to book a session, click here |
3D Printing | 3D printing service is available for a fee of $25 per submission. For assistance or questions, please email 3d@ece.ubc.ca |
eWorkShop Services (CNC Machine Shop) | Machine shop support for Capstone projects is available through the ECE Machine Shop. This support comes with a fee that will be charged directly against your team's authorized account (e.g., speedchart/worktag). 🛠️ Fabrication Services and Fees Fabrication support includes services such as cutting, milling, turning, and welding. This support is typically charged at $50 per hour. A full list of services is available on the Shop Capabilities page. 🛒 Material Requests You can request raw materials directly (e.g., aluminum, steel, pipes, tubes, and wood). While the cost of materials varies, you can use prices from any commercial vendor as a guideline. Alternatively, you may submit a detailed shop service request that includes mechanical drawings and a specification of all required materials. 📝 Request Forms 🔨 Use this Request Materials Form for unfinished materials. ⚙️ Use this WorkShop Request Form to request a quotation for fabrication. |
