ECE 2nd YEAR PARTS KIT:
All incoming second-year students (both ELEC and CPEN) are required every year to purchase the "UBC ECE Second-Year parts Kit" necessary for the following project courses: CPEN211, ELEC201, ELEC/CPEN291, ELEC292, ELEC391, and Capstone.
Starting WT1 2024, a separate free-of-charge Welcome Tools kit is available upon completion of the mandatory Safety Training 101. This course is free and online on Canvas. To enroll in Safety Training 101, follow the instructions here.
This year, For ELEC201 you need:
- the "UBC ECE Second-Year Parts Kit". Disclaimer: This is the same kit required for CPEN211. You only need to purchase one kit in total.
- the "Welcome Tools Kit". Disclaimer: This is a free kit that you can only receive upon completing Safety 101. You will only receive/need on kit in total.

Notice that the kit does NOT include batteries. You will need to supply your own 9V battery and three AA batteries or buy an optional battery set from the ECE Online Store.
Where to pick up your kits:
You can obtain your "ECE Second-Year Parts Kit" from ECE Stores – MCLD1032. You must provide proof of purchase upon picking this up.
You can obtain your "Welcome Tools kit" from MCLD 1017 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 9 am to 3 pm. A reminder, you must first complete the Safety 101 training course before receiving the Tools Kit.
For other subsequent project courses, you may be required to purchase specialized additional component Kits.
The contents of the Kits have been carefully optimized to match course requirements and reduce the cost to students and therefore no substitutions will be accepted.
