Seminar and Study Rooms

The ECE Department maintains a set of study rooms in the MacLeod building that is reserved for student use. These rooms span the 3rd and 4th floor of the MacLeod building and are accessible via your FOB key if you are a student or staff member. These meeting rooms are perfect for studying and are free to use on a first-come first-serve basis (unless booked for courses).

There are seminar rooms in both the Kaiser and MacLeod buildings free for use.
To book a room, please check its availability via https://mrbs.ece.ubc.ca and send a request to bookings@ece.ubc.ca

Please note that availability on the meeting room booking system and a request sent to the bookings administrator do not guarantee your request. ECE staff are not available to assist with set up or take down of the facility for your event. ECE staff are available, during normal business hours (8:30am-4:30pm), in one of three locations (MCLD 112B, KAIS 2010, KAIS 5500) to unlock the doors, only should you find them locked on your arrival.

Unfortunately, bookings outside of office hours cannot be honored to students or external bookings unless there is an ECE faculty host who will be responsible for unlocking and locking the facilities.

Please endeavour to visit the facility several days in advance of your event to ascertain the state of the facility as circumstances beyond our control (projectors failing, for example) may impact your event.

Please be courteous to subsequent users of the facility by returning the venue to a 'normal' seating pattern and by removing all event materials (papers, catering trays, etc.). Please do not assume that ECE staff or custodians will remove these items for you. Working in cooperation, the users of this facility can ensure that it remains in optimal condition.

All lecture rooms and halls in the MacLeod building are managed by UBC Building Services.
