CPEN 211

Introduction to Microcomputers
Instructor: LEMIEUX, GUY
Lab Location: MCLD 4018
Engineering Services Contact: Tihomir Tunchev

For this and future courses you need to purchase an FPGA board from Terasic.

For more details, see these instructions from Prof. Guy Lemieux.

For pick-up:

You can obtain your FPGA board from ECE Stores – MCLD1032 with your name and proof of purchase.

All incoming second-year students (both ELEC and CPEN) are required to purchase the "UBC ECE  Second-Year tools and parts Kit" necessary for the following project courses: CPEN211, ELEC201, ELEC291/292, ELEC391, and Capstone.

For other subsequent project courses, you may be required to purchase specialized additional component Kits.

The contents of the Kits have been carefully optimized to match course requirements and reduce the cost to students and therefore no substitutions will be accepted.

Where to pick up your kits:

The kits will ship directly to your home address.

Notice that the kit does NOT include batteries. You will need to supply your own 9V battery and three AA batteries or buy an optional battery set from the ECE Online Store.

HOW TO CONNECT:

The wires of the battery clip are stranded (bundle of many thin wires), but the tip is tinned (covered with solder)

To connect the clip to the breadboard carefully insert the tinned ends in the breadboard as shown on the picture.

DO NOT CUT AND PEEL THE WIRES:

If you cut and peel the wires you will end with stranded loose wires almost impossible to fit in the breadboard.
