ECE Makerspace: MCLD 1016, open to ECE members, Mon, Wed, Fri 9:00am-4:00pm, Tue and Thu 9:00am-7:00pm
ELEC391 students have priority during 391 Studio hours on Tue and Thu as on the
Makerspace calendar posted "here" .

You are not charged for services listed in the link above, but you must work within the specified quota.
Getting componentsYou can request components from ELEC391 TAs during your allocated lab hours.
Typically components will be ready for pickup during your next lab session.
The cost of the components will be charged to your group quota.
To order:
1. Fill your team's part order. This is a file that was shared with your group's email account.
2. During lab hours show your request to TAs for approval.
TAs can see your orders on a file or their own that mirrors all group files.
TAs will ask you to justify your requests and will take notes to manage consumption.

Order items are limited to:

Distributors:
- Any parts from Digikey '(HOW TO ORDER FROM DIGIKEY)'
- Any parts from McMaster-Carr '(HOW TO ORDER FROM MCMASTER-CARR)'.

Stocked parts:
- Any parts in stock from this list (until stock depletes) '(LIST OF ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL PARTS IN STOCK)'
To add these to your Orders Form:
1) Type the Bin # in the "Bin #" column on the "orders" tab of your parts order google sheet.
2) indicate the quantity

3D printingThere are FDM 3D Printers deployed in the Makerspace for free use.
Printers are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

You can also submit printing job requests to Engineering Services; charges apply towards your project quota as per course Costs & Quotas posted 'here' .
To submit a request fill this Request 3D Printing form.
You have a choice of FDM printing (Low-Res), or SLA (Hi-Res).

Waterjet cuttingEach term, ELEC391 groups can submit a maximum of 1 unique part request utilizing the Waterjet in the Advanced Manufacturing Facility. Additionally, they can provide up to 2 copies of the DXF design for each part; charges apply towards your project quota as per Costs & Quotas posted 'here'

PCB submission deadlinesMon to Tue, starting Feb 12 - 2024.
Submissions will be fabricated in weekly batches. Any submissions sent after Tue 11:55PM will roll over to the next week.
PCB submission instructionsYou must submit your designs directly to Engineering services at email : engservices@ece.ubc.ca
Submit by email, using your team gmail account (same you use to request parts, do not include personal information in the email)

PCBs with the following specs,
2 layers
62mil FR4, TG 170
1oz copper, SILVER
Solder Mask Color: Green / Legend color: White

Makerspace trainingRequired for all ECE members only once.
You must attend an on-site orientation first and then complete an online test on Canvas.
On-site orientation for ELEC391 students: during lab sessions on weeks 1-2 of the term. Use the white sign-in binder in MCLD3042 to reserve your session.
